Hospital Medicine Clinical Care

Indiana University School of Medicine hospitalists provide care for the most complex hospitalized patients, serving 24/7 in sites across central Indiana, including Eskenazi Health, IU Health campuses, and the Roudebush VA Medical Center. Faculty provide primary and consultative care alongside inter-professional teams to patients at these sites through the continuum of their hospitalization, from shared medical decision making, coordination with other specialties and primary care, to safe and efficient discharge planning. Hospitalists also staff the preoperative medical assessment clinics and work with surgical colleagues to optimize outcomes for patients undergoing surgery.

Hospitalists rotating on academic teams at each site supervise and train learners from the IU School of Medicine internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics, and transitional year residencies.

Faculty physicians have the privilege of caring for patients and their families amidst the most stressful times of their lives and are committed to working with compassion while working to eliminate health care disparities.
