IU School of Medicine faculty who specialize in hospital medicine actively contribute to furthering knowledge that will improve the care of hospitalized patients everywhere. The practice of hospital medicine intersects with clinical care models of how we deliver care, advocacy, administration, quality and safety, education and leadership.
Hospitalists also serve as boundary spanners across all the different disciplines necessary to provide exemplary care to patients, collaborating with multiple professions including subspecialists, pharmacy, nursing, respiratory therapy and physical therapy. These efforts are supported by dedicated roles and faculty development offerings.
