    Why I chose Internal Medicine:
I chose internal medicine because it's a broad specialty. It allows me to deepen my understanding of the pathophysiology of multiple organ systems, and to manage patients with some of the most complex diseases.

Why I chose the Indiana University School of Medicine Internal Medicine Southwest program:
This program appealed to me for a few reasons. First, the diversity of socio-economic backgrounds of the community in the Tri-State area means that there is a constant stream of interesting and complex cases coming into the hospital, from which there is plenty of learning to gain. It's also a decently sized program that isn't too large. Residents and faculty all know each other and it's easy to find support when it's needed. Research is emphasized and many dedicated days are given for residents to work on projects.

    Personal interests and hobbies:
I like tech, cars, and cooking. I mostly cook Middle Eastern dishes since I grew up eating Middle Eastern food. Occasionally I also like to spend time playing video games.

    Why I chose Internal Medicine:
I like the intellectual challenges involved in internal medicine, especially differential diagnosis. The possibility of continuing a relationship with the patients is another good aspect.

Why I chose the Indiana University School of Medicine Internal Medicine Southwest program:
I choose the IU School of Medicine IM southwest program because is a unique possibility combining all resources of a high-level academic program with the learning opportunities of training in a smaller city/underserved population can provide. I think it is an excellent choice for those who want a solid general internal medicine training.

    Why I chose Internal Medicine:
To begin with, I love the intellectual challenge and satisfaction that come with thinking broadly about the complex interaction of systems in the whole patient as opposed to just thinking about one organ system. Furthermore, as a people person, I love how taking care of patients as a primary care doctor in outpatient setting enables me to form ongoing relationships with them.

Why I chose the Indiana University School of Medicine Internal Medicine Southwest program:
I chose this program for three reasons. Firstly, as an Indiana University expansion program, it provides the academic culture that reinforces the lifelong commitment to learning involved in medicine. Secondly, the program runs across two hospitals that serve a tristate area (IN, IL, KY) thus exposing one to a wide range of pathologies from a diverse patient pool both as a primary care physician in ambulatory continuity clinic and as a hospitalist with hospitalized patients. Thirdly, I loved the spirit of collegiality that I could sense from the residents and faculty during the interview process.

    Personal interests and hobbies:
I love soccer – watching, playing and coaching. I also love science fiction books, and music as well as traveling and discovering new places/cultures.

    Why I chose Internal Medicine:
love internal medicine and the large scope of practice it offers. I wanted a specialty that would allow me to maintain an exposure to a wide-array of practice while I decide what I’d like to sub-specialize in or whether I’d like to pursue the hospitalist route. I’m really happy I chose internal medicine. Seeing patients both in the hospital and in the clinic is a fantastic learning experience.

Why I chose the Indiana University School of Medicine Internal Medicine Southwest program:
I chose SWINRES because of the full sponsorship by Indiana University, which means that I am a resident in an academic program.  The fact that it was based in a rural setting was even more appealing: it exposes me to a population in need for primary care physicians as well as quality inpatient care. Furthermore, the program’s core faculty is world class: Drs Beliveau, Ficalora, Singson, Sash, and McKinley are fantastic educators with decades of experience: they know what it takes to run a top-notch program and get their residents where they need to be.

    Personal interests and hobbies:
I have a decent amount of hobbies and thankfully live in an area that allows me to partake in most of them: I love to cook, I tend to cook and grill a whole lot for my friends and colleagues. I enjoy the outdoors, be it hikes in nearby forests or walks alongside the Evansville waterfront. I workout and game, and finally enjoy going out to bars/parties/concerts.

    Why I chose Internal Medicine:
I desired my emphasis of practice to be preventing, diagnosing and treating adults with a variety of diseases requiring complex medical management. I also loved the variety of pathology in general internal medicine that I was exposed to as a medical student, requiring constant in-depth problem-solving. Lastly, I had several mentors in internal medicine that were excellent diagnosticians who inspired me in their practices.

Why I chose the Indiana University School of Medicine Internal Medicine Southwest program:
The program leadership, the collaborative and supportive work environment, the enjoyment of the interview process and feeling that I would fit in well, the repute of the program, and the location.

    Personal interests and hobbies:
I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, hiking, golfing, swimming, camping, snorkeling and scuba diving. I also enjoy reading, going to church, and spending time with my wife and traveling.
