Endocrinology

Faculty endocrinologists support IU Health Diabetes and Endocrinology and use the latest medical advances to treat disorders of the endocrine (hormonal) system, including diabetes, thyroid disease and cancer, osteoporosis, and adrenal and pituitary conditions. Services offered at the center include comprehensive diabetes education, individual consultations, diabetes prevention programs, insulin initiation and regulation, insulin pump education, gestational diabetes education, diabetes counseling and medical nutrition therapy.

Under division chief Michael Econs, MD, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism demonstrates excellence in teaching, patient care, and research. Medical school and resident education includes the Endocrinology section in the Foundation of Clinical Practice course and active endocrine rotations for students and residents. Residents taking the endocrine elective, as well as the women’s health elective, rotate through our many clinics.
