The Division of Endocrinology offers a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship training for physicians who completed a residency in internal medicine at an ACGME-accredited program. Our program accepts candidates on H-1B and J-1 visas. It is a possibility for a physician to add a third year to their fellowship for additional research training.
The major aim of the program is to prepare the physicians for careers in academic medicine or clinical practice by providing a firm grounding in the fundamentals of endocrinology and metabolism. The program offers clinical training, both in the outpatient and inpatient venues, as well as outstanding research mentorship by nationally known research faculty. On average, fellows have 18 months of clinical rotations and six months of research over the span of two years. A combined fellowship in medicine-pediatrics endocrinology and metabolism is also offered in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics. Positions in the pediatric endocrinology fellowship program are offered separately and do not utilize the NRMP matching process. Applicants interested in a combined fellowship position should contact the pediatric endocrinology fellowship program director, Dr. Jack Fuqua, at 317-274-3889, no later than September of the year preceding the December match for the adult endocrinology program.
