IU School of Medicine graduates physicians, scientists in Class of 2021

For the second year in a row, Indiana University School of Medicine hosted its graduation recognition ceremony in a virtual setting, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
Members of the Class of 2021 were honored Friday, May 14, with members of IU School of Medicine leadership sharing their well wishes in pre-recorded messages. They were joined by keynote speaker Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, FAAP. She is the physician, scientist and activist who exposed the Flint water crisis.

IU School of Medicine names new associate dean, director for West Lafayette campus

Matthew Tews, DO, MS, has been named the next associate dean and director for Indiana University School of Medicine in West Lafayette. The Midwest native currently serves as Professor of Emergency Medicine and Associate Dean for Educational Simulation at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University, providing leadership for their Simulation, Clinical Skills, Standardized Patient, and Research and Evaluation programs. He is also a practicing emergency physician.

IU School of Medicine receives $7 million education grant aimed at eliminating health disparities

Indiana University School of Medicine recently was awarded a $7 million grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to help the school educate medical students to better care for underserved populations. IU School of Medicine celebrates Class of 2020 with virtual graduation ceremony

Members of the Indiana University School of Medicine Class of 2020 were honored Friday, May 15, during a virtual graduation recognition ceremony. Typically held at the Indiana Convention Center's Sagamore Ballroom, this year's event took place in the form of a Facebook livestream, and featured a keynote address by VADM Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH -- U.S. Surgeon General and an IU School of Medicine alum.

Founder of MSMS program George H. Rawls passes away at age 91

George H. Rawls, MD, Indiana University Clinical Professor Emeritus of Surgery and founding director of the Master of Science in Medical Science program at IU School of Medicine, passed away on Saturday, May 16, at age 91.
