Diabetes researchers to gather in Paris for 19th IDS Congress

This spring, scientists from around the world will gather in Paris, France for the 19th Immunology of Diabetes Society (IDS) Congress. The Congress’s main goal is to gather experts dedicated to improving and understanding the treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D) so that together they can continue groundbreaking discoveries for the incurable disease that affects millions of children and adults worldwide. According to a 2022 modeling study published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, 8.4 million people were estimated to be living with T1D globally in 2021 and the amount is expected to double by 2040.  

Carmella Evans-Molina, PhD, MS, MD, director of the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases (CDMD) at Indiana University School of Medicine, also serves as president of the IDS Council and will travel to Paris in May to join her colleagues for a week of transformative presentations, lectures and workshops.

The 19th IDC Congress in Paris will take place from May 23 to May 27, 2023—including the IDS Gala held on the evening of May 25. More than 45 speakers are scheduled to present, and hundreds of investigators and scientific trainees from several countries will discuss the latest research and topics related to T1D.
