I spent the early part of my childhood in Irvine, CA — a place I still love to visit — before growing up in Elmhurst, IL. Playing violin in my district's orchestra was a meaningful part of my school years.

I went on to study neuroscience and Spanish at Saint Louis University, then attended medical school at Midwestern University. My interests in neuroscience, musculoskeletal, and health and wellness led me to develop a passion for the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

I am grateful to be spending my intern year at IU Ball Memorial Hospital, where I have the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally in the program's supportive learning environment. This year will serve as a strong foundation as I go on to complete my PM&R residency at Northwestern Medicine Marianjoy in Chicago.

Beyond medicine, I enjoy baking cakes, reformer Pilates, film photography and being the youngest of four siblings.

I was raised in Bishop, CA, a rural town nestled in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Bishop has a population of approximately 3,700. The nearest city is Reno, NV, which is about three and a half hours away. Growing up in such a remote, tight-knit community helped instill the values of friendship and teamwork from a young age.

For college, I attended the University of Michigan, where I studied biology and English. After graduating, I returned closer to home to pursue my medical education at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine. During medical school, I was fortunate to continue exploring my passions for research and community service, both of which have played a significant role in shaping my approach to medicine.

Next year I will begin my diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Before that, I am excited to complete my transitional year at Ball Memorial Hospital. I was drawn to the program because of its broad clinical exposure, strong sense of community, and the exceptional leadership and organization demonstrated by Dr. Ong and Brandy during the interview process.

Outside of medicine, I have a deep love for animals, cooking, sociology and history. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our puppy. We are loving Muncie!

Indiana University School of Medicine

As a lifelong Hoosier from central Indiana, I am beyond elated to have matched at Ball Memorial’s Transitional Year program, where I have the opportunity and privilege to care for members of my community.

My undergraduate years were spent at Indiana University in Bloomington, where I earned degrees in biology and philosophy. Immediately following that, I continued my education at the Indiana University School of Medicine, spending the vast majority of my time at the South Bend campus. Following my training at Ball Memorial Hospital, I will be continuing my education in the specialty of anesthesiology at IU’s residency program in Indianapolis.

In my research, I employ a true multi-disciplinary approach, fusing my background of philosophy with my current medical education. My current research interests encompass blood management in trauma, patient autonomy, physician duties and Kant’s ethics.

Outside of the hospital in my free time, I love to watch films, do some cooking and play board games with friends.

A true Ohio River Valley native, I was born and raised in Jeffersonville, IN, just outside the Louisville, KY area. I chose to stay close to home for undergrad, attending Bellarmine University and majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. While in college, I also ran both cross country and long-distance track and field. I then attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine, with my preclinical years spent at the Evansville regional campus before transitioning to the Indianapolis campus for most of my clinical rotations.

I'm looking forward to my intern year here at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, both to experience the practice of medicine in a new, supportive environment and to have the freedom to develop my schedule in a way that will greatly benefit me in my future years of training! Following my intern year, I will be returning to Indiana University School of Medicine for my training in interventional and diagnostic radiology.

Outside of the hospital, I enjoy getting coffee, working on my landscape photography and running (I've completed three marathons up to this point).

I was born and raised in Illinois. I later attended IU Bloomington, where I earned a degree in biology and also met my wife. I took a gap year working at home before attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. I am excited to spend my intern year here at Ball Memorial Hospital, where I am confident I will be supported by staff and co-residents as I begin my new journey in residency. Following the end of my intern year, I will be moving back to Cincy to complete my residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center alongside my wife, who will be completing her residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's.

When I am not working, I enjoy playing volleyball, reading sci-fi/fantasy books and watching tv shows/movies. I also enjoy watching my Chicago professional sports teams (most of the time…).

I grew up in Fishers, IN, a suburb on the northeast side of Indianapolis, in a family of non-doctors. Initially interested in medical physics and imaging research, I completed undergraduate majors in mathematics and physics at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Later in my undergraduate studies, I trained as an EMT and realized the value of simultaneous clinical and research practice. I was fortunate to subsequently pursue graduate studies in biomedical engineering at Purdue University alongside my medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine.

My research interests involve novel engineering and modeling approaches in diagnostic imaging, especially leveraging physiologic models and artificial intelligence in nuclear medicine imaging to extract meaningful diagnostic and prognostic data from four-dimensional, movie-like images. I hope to continue bridging the gap between engineers, physicists and clinical practitioners, pushing the boundaries of diagnostic medicine.

During my time at IU, I have enjoyed playing french horn in the IU School of Medicine orchestra, playing volleyball and softball, and giving back to my community. I am excited to be part of the transitional year residency at Ball Memorial Hospital because the staff support, clinical education and tight-knit resident community offer a unique environment for me to thrive and develop a broad skillset. Following my year at Ball Memorial Hospital, I will be joining Emory University in Atlanta, GA to continue my diagnostic radiology clinical and research training.

Transitional Year (Muncie), PGY 1
Indiana University School of Medicine

I have lived in many locations throughout my life, but I consider the Lafayette/West Lafayette, IN area to be my home. My undergraduate education was in psychology and law and society at Purdue University. After graduating, I was unsure which career path I wanted to pursue, and I worked as an office manager for several years before discovering that I was passionate about a career in medicine. Then, I returned to Purdue to complete prerequisite courses for medical school while working in environmental and laboratory services at IU Health Arnett Hospital. I went on to obtain my medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Wearing cream and crimson is difficult for this Boilermaker but I have learned to be proud of my training at both IU and Purdue.

During medical school, I completed a two-month surgery rotation at Ball Memorial Hospital. The hospital and surrounding community appealed to me because of the size and friendly atmosphere. I am excited to complete my transitional year because I know I will gain holistic clinical experience before carrying on to my diagnostic radiology training at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Outside of work, I like to stay active by playing recreational kickball and training for half marathons. I also enjoy cooking, trying new restaurants/coffee shops, going to trivia nights and exploring the local farmer's market. Finally, I relax with my fair share of TV shows, movies, books and puzzles.

I am eager to learn and develop my skills while I am here learning from the amazing staff and faculty. After completion of my intern year, I will be moving back to Indianapolis to do my anesthesia residency at Ascension St. Vincent.

Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time boating with my family during the summer months and cheering for the Colts! My fiancé and I love finding new restaurants and breweries.

I grew up in Zionsville, IN, a suburb of Indianapolis, and pursued my undergraduate studies at Purdue University, where I earned a degree in health sciences in 2020. During my gap year, I worked for the Indiana State Department of Health on their Covid-19 response team. I then went on to attend Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In my free time, I enjoy singing and playing guitar, especially songs that blend Bollywood and Western music. I also enjoy playing basketball, pickleball and going on nature adventures and photography outings with my wife. Additionally, I have a passion for travel and have been fortunate to visit over 15 countries.

I'm thrilled to be completing my transitional year at Ball Memorial Hospital. During my residency interview, I was drawn to the program’s close-knit, family-like atmosphere, combined with the benefits of being part of a large academic health system. After this year, I will return to Indianapolis to begin my anesthesiology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine.

I grew up in Kokomo, IN and attended Ball State University for my undergraduate studies. At Ball State, I majored in biochemistry, met my wife and graduated in 2018. I spent two years after my undergraduate education working as a cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation technician at Logansport Memorial Hospital, and then as a patient care assistant in the emergency department at Ball Memorial Hospital. I then completed a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Marian University before attending Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school the following year. I was introduced to physical medicine and rehabilitation by a mentor during a Whole Person Care preceptorship in Redlands, CA the summer between my first and second year of medical school and quickly felt that it suited my personality and desire to care for that patient population. My wife and I are excited to be in Muncie for my transitional year and to return to Indianapolis for Indiana University School of Medicine’s PM&R program next year. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, playing disc golf, reading and hiking.
