Psychology Internship Program

The Psychology Internship program at Indiana University School of Medicine offers a variety of training experiences. With access to patients at wide array of IU Health facilities and guidance from expert psychologists serving faculty appointments, this IU School of Medicine program is an engaging experience that trains interns in health service psychology to make use of current research and implement evidence-based practice in a variety of clinical settings.

Consistent with the tripartite mission of IU School of Medicine, the Psychology Internship program values service, education and research. The program seeks applicants who have strong clinical training as well as experience in conducting and utilizing research. In this program, interns have extensive opportunities to apply knowledge gained through research in assessment and intervention situations. Interns who complete the program are prepared to conduct research informed by experience in real-world clinical settings.

Program Structure

The 12-month internship program will offer ten positions for the 2024-2025 training year: one in the Autism track, three in Child/Pediatric Psychology, one in Child/Autism, three in Adult Health Psychology, one in Addictions and one in Pediatric Neuropsychology.

Admission Requirements

Applications are accepted from graduate students enrolled in APA-accredited doctoral programs in clinical psychology. Successful applicants will have completed at least three years of graduate training that has included formal educational and clinical experiences with assessment and intervention as well as training and experience with research.

Tracks

This track has three positions that consist of two of the following four core rotations in adult health psychology: Adult Pain Clinic, Adult Outpatient Clinic, Adult Solid Organ Transplant, Adult Heart/Lung Transplant and Adult Sleep.

This track has three positions, consisting of two of the following core rotations: child outpatient, pediatric consultation-liaison, and pediatric outpatient.

This track has one available position and includes two core rotations in autism.

This track has one available position and the core rotations will include 1-1/2 days per week in autism and 1 day per week in child outpatient experiences.

This track has one available position and includes two core rotations in Pediatric Neuropsychology.

This track has one available position and both core rotations will be in adolescent and adult addictions.
