Psychiatry Residency in Indianapolis

Providing expert training to tomorrow's leading psychiatrists

Psychiatry Residency: Indianapolis

The Psychiatry Residency program at IU School of Medicine provides outstanding clinical training in the full breadth and depth of psychiatry with a diverse set of experiences. Program residents develop psychiatric careers as clinicians and/or educators within university-based medical centers, community hospital systems, private practice, subspecialties, research, community and public health providers, global health innovators and other leadership positions. Each year, the program accepts eight categorical psychiatry residents and offers rich opportunities tailored to each trainee’s interests and career needs.

Benefits

Apply for Indianapolis Psychiatry Residency

Applications for the Indianapolis Residency program are accepted exclusively through ERAS. Candidates interested in the 2022-2023 season should complete an ERAS 2023 MyERAS application that includes a minimum of three letters of recommendation with at least one being from a Psychiatry Faculty for whom you have worked.

For the 2023 ERAS® cycle, our program will also be collecting and reviewing data from applicants’ supplemental ERAS applications. Completion of the standard MyERAS application is a requirement, and completion of the supplemental ERAS application is optional.

In its second year of use, the supplemental ERAS application is designed to help applicants share more information about themselves and assist residency programs in finding applicants that best fit a program’s setting and mission. There is no cost to applicants and participation is optional. The supplemental ERAS application provides:

  • Geographic preferences (by division and by urban or rural setting)
  • Information about an applicant’s most meaningful experiences and other impactful life events, if applicable
  • Program signals

The supplemental ERAS application will be delivered on a survey platform that is separate from the MyERAS application and must be completed between August 1 and September 16, 2022.
