Training Facilities and Equipment

The majority of Radiation Oncology resident rotations are at our NCI Designated,  IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Senior residents also rotate at a community satellite clinic, located at IU Health West Hospital. Details about the equipment available at each site are below.

  • IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center

    • NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center 
    • Part of the IU Health University Hospital complex
    • Treatment machines include a Varian Edge, IX, and Trilogy, Nucletron MicroSelectron-HDR unit, big bore CT simulator with 4D CT

  • IU Health Methodist Hospital

    • 802-bed hospital and Level I trauma center
    • Treatment machines include Gamma Knife Perfexion, two Varian TrueBeams with 6 degrees of freedom couch, Nucletron microSelectron-HDR unit, and big bore CT simulator with 4D CT

  • IU Health Riley Hospital for Children

    This is the only comprehensive children’s hospital in Indiana, treating more than 75 percent of childhood cancers in the state. No radiation oncology treatment facilities are in this hospital; all radiation oncology patients are treated at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.

  • Sidney Lois Eskenazi Hospital

    County Hospital for Marion County with a multidisciplinary clinic with IU School of Medicine Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program. No radiation oncology treatment facilities; patients are typically treated at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center or IU Health Methodist Hospital.

  • IU Health West Hospital

    Treatment machines include Varian TrueBeam and big bore CT simulator.

  • IU Health North Hospital

    The IU Health Joe and Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center opened in Carmel, IN in early 2020. Current equipment includes a Varian Truebeam, CT simulator,  and HDR.
