Diagnostic Radiology Residency

The Radiology Residency program at Indiana University School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited, four-year program that provides crucial training for trainees to develop expertise in all areas of diagnostic and interventional radiology. The passion for education of the 120 subspecialty expert and community radiologists contributes to the collaborative, resident-centric excellence of this program. The Radiology Residency also leverages the considerable resources available through the school’s partnership with one of the leading hospital systems in the country, IU Health. Program residents are well-equipped to serve as leaders, consultative experts and patient advocates in whatever practice environment they choose after graduation.

Career Development Opportunities

In addition to the substantial clinical and educational Radiology Faculty out to lunchgrowth during residency, the department's family of residents enjoys a substantial number of high-quality opportunities to grow in “extracurricular” areas of radiology. The department offers a dedicated Leadership Conference Series organized and facilitated by nationally recognized leader in radiology Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD. The department's Women in Radiology Group is comprised of trainees and faculty that meet regularly for guest speaker events, mentoring and volunteer opportunities.

The department's Academic Research Track (ART) equips trainees in the finer points of research through a dedicated conference series. Residents whose projects are accepted through the ART also receive a bonus 10 percent dedicated research time longitudinally while on their clinical rotations throughout the academic year. These highlights and numerous additional career development opportunities exist and are regularly created by the department's talented group of residents.

 

Fellowship Training Opportunities

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at IU School of Medicine provides comprehensive fellowship opportunities. Fellowship positions are available in all subspecialty areas, and many of the department's resident graduates choose to benefit from the continuity of training with the expert faculty who serve as mentors and close colleagues to residents.
