For over 75 years, the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Indiana University School of Medicine has worked closely with patients throughout Indiana and around the world to empathize with their concerns, address their diagnosis and provide the best preventative treatments moving forward. But before experts can provide life-saving diagnosis, innovations in research are vital to bring forth improved standards of care and the world's leading imaging technological capabilities.

Whether it be breakthroughs in interventional radiology or new discoveries in PSMA PET imaging—radiology is a cornerstone of diagnosis for modern medicine. Over the years, department experts, like Gary Hutchins, PhD and Rupa Radhakrishnan, MD, have led new research advancements that have helped shape the field. Additionally, the department has excelled in research funding in recent years, bringing over $9 million in 2021, setting a strong foundation for the department to continue to thrive in research opportunities for years to come.
